The Living in Red Deer Survey is designed to give residents a voice on a variety of topics. This includes everything from quality of life to feedback on City services and specific projects.

This survey offers a snapshot of how residents feel about living in the community and highlights their priorities. The final report is being delivered to City Council and senior Administration as one avenue of input in future planning and decision-making.

The results of the Living in Red Deer Survey are being shared with City Council and Administration to help inform strategic and operational planning. The feedback provides valuable insight into the perspectives and experiences of engaged residents and helps highlight areas of interest, concern, and opportunity across the community.

This survey is one of many tools used in decision-making, alongside the Citizen Satisfaction Survey, existing plans, research, professional expertise, operational data, and emerging trends. Council and Administration take a comprehensive, balanced approach to planning that reflects a wide range of information and long-term considerations for the city.

This survey is planned to occur every two years, however, timelines may adjust as needs arise.

It will take place on alternating years with the Citizen Satisfaction Survey.

The Citizen Satisfaction Survey is a statistically valid, third-party telephone survey designed to capture a representative sample of Red Deer’s population. Therefore, the costs to administer that survey encourages us to keep the questions more general. The Living in Red Deer Survey is crafted in-house, allowing us to be as detailed as necessary about current projects, initiatives and topics of interest, while keeping costs relatively low.

The Living in Red Deer Survey was an online survey designed to enable all Red Deerians to opt-in. The survey was promoted through a mix of online ads, local media, posters, post-cards distributed through the Red Deer Public Library and more, to make sure that residents from all demographics had a chance to participate.

Printed copies were placed at City Hall, Collicutt Centre, G.H. Dawe Community Centre, Recreation Centre and Michener Aquatic Centre so that respondents had the opportunity to pick up copies, complete them and return. Data was then manually entered and included in analysis.
