Hi neighbour!
The City of Red Deer has received an application to revise the Evergreen Neighbourhood Area Structure Plan (NASP). This plan helps guide what kinds of buildings and spaces can be built in the area, things like homes, parks, and roads.
Right now, most of Evergreen is set up for single family homes. The developer is proposing some small changes to allow more housing types such as duplexes, townhomes, and more single-family homes.
To do that, the NASP first needs to be updated and rezoning some of the land needs to occur. Rezoning means changing the rules about what can be built on a piece of land, for example, switching from “single family homes only” to “duplexes and townhouse allowed.”
Before anything moves ahead, The City and the developer would like to host an information session to provide information on the proposed changes – what could be developed with the new zoning, when development may occur, and why the change is being pursued.
A pop-up information session will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dave Larratt Park. Stop by anytime during the event to talk to the developer and The City.
Do you have comments?
All members of the public will have the opportunity to address Council about the proposed amendments at the Public Hearing. When a date is scheduled for the hearing (tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, August 5), it will be advertised in the Red Deer Advocate, on The City’s Public Hearing webpage (Public Hearings - The City of Red Deer), and letters will be mailed to landowners within the consultation area.
In the meantime, if you’re looking for information on the application, please visit Evergreen NASP Amendment & Rezoning - The City of Red Deer.
